About the Project

Into Film and Nerve Centre, funded through the Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s Teacher Development Fund, are offering teachers the opportunity to develop and support learning through film and filmmaking.

Full STEAM Ahead is a year-long training and professional development project designed to support teaching and learning with the aim of raising attainment in literacy, numeracy and developing skills in using ICT (UICT).

The project was open to Key Stage 2 teachers working with disadvantaged and/or vulnerable children. Full STEAM Ahead is working with ten primary schools in Northern Ireland to train teachers and support their delivery of a curriculum-linked training programme in analytical film watching and filmmaking, which delivers measurable outcomes for STEAM through literacy, numeracy and UICT.

Schools will develop advanced critical and creative skills, culminating in the production of a pupil-authored showcase piece around a core mathematical concept for sharing and use as a learning aid by others.
